Protection of geographical indications GI in Algeria

Henceforth, agricultural products benefit from a protected geographical indication according to the ministerial decree issued from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries on May 05, 2016 laying down the rules relating to the procedure of appellations of origin, Geographical indications and quality agricultural labels.

Award of the quality label of the agricultural product Geographical Indication (GI) to the "Date Deglet Nour of Tolga " and " Dry fig of Beni Maouche ".

The date "Datte Deglet Nour de Tolga" and "Dry fig of Beni Maouche" now enjoys a protected geographical indication according to the interministerial decree of October, 31, 2016 by the Ministery for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries and The Ministry of Commerce setting out the technical characteristics, the signs and the colors used in the logos of the appellation of origin (AO) and the geographical indication (GI) of agricultural products or agricultural origin.

The GI quality label has been awarded to the "Datte Deglet Nour de Tolga" and the "Dry fig of Beni Maouche" by ministerial decree of the Ministry of Agriculture dated on September 22, 2016.
